‍Francis was named after his great-grandfather, Francis James. Little is know about the lives of Francis and Nancy, other than a few date and the names of their children. Francis, an orphan, might have been raised by his Uncle Jack Hobson at his plantation, Obscurity, where he was later buried. Nancy is buried at her parents’ plantation, next to her brother Epaphroditus. Their son, William Hobson Clarke, inherited this land from his Uncle Eppa. Francis and Nancy were neighbors in Cumberland County.
